SHILLONG: The 29 KHADC MDCs from both the ruling and Opposition will be visiting various villages in Block II along the inter-State border to get first hand information about the problems faced by the people residing in these areas.

Informing this here on Thursday, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, CEM, KHADC said that the delegation will visit the areas on July 29.

He said that the main purpose of the visit was to have a better understanding of the problems being faced by the people along the inter-State border.

“We would also like to show a sign of solidarity with the local villagers and also to infuse a sense of security among them,” Basaiawmoit said.

He said that the MDCs were deeply concerned over the harassment and atrocities meted out against the local villagers either by Assam Police or the militant groups from the neigbouring State.

“We would be submitting a representation to the State Government after the visit,” the KHADC CEM said.
