Tyrsad girls, St Anthony’s boys win big on Subroto 2nd day

SHILLONG: Tyrsad Higher Secondary School, representing East Khasi Hills, romped to a 10-0 victory over Gambegre UP School (West Garo Hills) in their U-17 girls State Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup football match at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Tuesday.

Tyrsad HSS had represented Meghalaya at last year’s national level Subroto Cup.

Two hat-tricks were scored by Iawanlang Nongbet (7th, 17th, 23rd, 29th minutes) and Dabiang Khongwet (27th, 35th, 43rd).

Mattibahun Umdor scored a brace (14th, 19th), while Heinita Iakai (53rd) scored one goal in the first game of the day.

Meanwhile, K Tajudin recorded a hat-trick of his own as St Anthony’s HS School (EKH) defeated Govt Higher Sec School, Resubelpara (North Garo Hills) 5-0 in an U-17 boys match.

Tajudin scored in the very first minute, adding another three in the eighth, 24th and 26th.

Friday Birth K Sangma also scored in the 10th minute for the Anthonians.

Two U-14 boys matches were held on Tuesday, with both ending in goalless draws.

The contest between Telekali UP School, Baghmara (South Garo Hills) and Khliehriat Presbyterian Sec School (East Jaintia Hills) ended 0-0 in the morning, while the fixture featuring Radphod Sec School, Mawkyrwat (South West Khasi Hills) and Don Bosco School, Tura (WGH) also ended the same way at the end of the day.

In another U-17 girls match, Mihmyntdu Secondary School, Jowai (West Jaintia Hills) won 2-0 over Lurmangkara UP School, Nongstoin (West Khasi Hills).

Baiahunlang Mawlieh opened the scoring in the 21st minute, with Dashisha K Bani adding a second 10 minutes later.
