SHILLONG: The two-day green and organic ‘Fru-Ve’ Indigenous Fruits and Vegetable Festival concluded at Police parade ground, Tura on Saturday.

The ‘Fru-Ve’ Festival was organised by the IBDLP, Basin Development Unit, Tura in collaboration with the District Administration, West Garo Hills.

The event which aimed at promoting green agriculture, green technology and organic farming in the state, showcased more than 30 enterprising stalls put up by various line departments like Horticulture, Agriculture, DCIC, AH & Veterinary, NERCORMP, SBI, agro-entrepreneurs, SHG groups, local farmers and several vegetable market associations, who took active participation in the two-day indigenous fruits and vegetable festival.

The event has also introduced a new concept in context to tourism as ‘Fru-Ve’ Tourism, where tourists and visitors from neighbouring states and other parts of country can be invited to participate in the innovative festival annually.
