W’nagar NGOs call public rally on Aug 27

TURA: In protest against the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council’s attempt to codify Garo Customary Laws in a hasty manner, several NGOs of Williamnagar including the GSU, AIGU, FAF, Mothers’ Federation, ICFS and AYF in a joint meeting held recently have decided to hold a public rally on the premises of Williamnagar Government College on August 27 at 10:30 am.
The meeting also condemned the Meghalaya Rural Development Society for the Total Sanitation Campaign scam and resolved to stop the supplier involved in the scam from further supplying materials into the region. It also decided to demand for the immediate appointment of an IAS officer to replace former Deputy Commissioner Vijay Kumar Mantri.
The meeting also condemned the extension of the GHADC tenure and the delay in the constitution of the delimitation committee.
