The committee has found that a total of more than 2 lakh metric tonnes of coal is laying in coal depots across West Khasi Hills district.

Assessment in far away coal depots could not be conducted due to monsoon, sources said adding that the same would be done in the winter season.

Speaking to reporters here, MA Challam, EAC, WKH, said that the report will be submitted to the government which will subsequently go to the National Green Tribunal (NGT). He added that coal traders would have to wait for the orders of the government to sell off their extracted coal.
