Deborah praises Modi, wants to bring Amul to state

SHILLONG: Social welfare minister Deborah Marak is all praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for putting Gujarat on fast track of development as its chief Minister.

Marak, who visited Gujarat recently, said on Monday that she along with the officials of concerned department had gone to that state to explore the possibilities of setting up of Amul unit in Shilloing as “Meghalaya with a suitable climatic condition has scope for this.”

She added that Gujarat has developed significantly and good road connectivity is the best example.

Sikkim has already signed a memorandum of understanding with Gujarat for setting up of an Amul unit there. The Minister said that she would pursue the matter.

Marak, who also holds Animal Husbandry portfolio, said she had also visited slaughter houses in Mumbai to have a firsthand knowledge about their functioning.

The construction of slaughter house at Mawiong is under progress.
