Aibor, Redeem upbeat about ISL

SHILLONG: State footballers Aiborlang Khongjee and Redeem Tlang who will feature in the Hero Indian Super League donning the NorthEast United FC colours are upbeat about playing in the IPL-style football tournament promoted by IMG-R and Star India.

The tournament, which will see eight teams vie for top honours is scheduled to begin in mid-October.

Both Khongjee and Tlang have been named among the domestic players to feature for NorthEast United FC alongside international players.

India International Khongjee who rejoined Shillong Lajong FC this summer said, “This is a great opportunity for me. I will give my best for the team and look forward to play alongside the best set of foreign players and coaching staff.”

Rising football prodigy, 19-year-old Redeem Tlang was thankful to the Lajong coaching staff for their support and attributed his selection in NEUFC to them.

“I look forward to a wonderful first season of the ISL and hope the team has a memorable debut performance and make the fans of the North East and rest of

India proud,” he stated in a NEUFC release issued here on Tuesday.
