Agartala: The opposition party Congress in Tripura Assembly on Tuesday alleged that the suicides, road accident and crimes on women have replaced the figure of deaths due to militancy over past two decades in the state.
Senior Congress leader Ratan Lal said here due to administrative inaction, political shelter against the perpetrator and uncertainty over the future of the younger generations incidences of crime on women, road accident and suicides have been increasing day by day.
“The death toll on such crimes in Tripura over the years have appeared to be alarming and average rate of incidences override the victim’s figure in insurgency related incidents in past two decades where the state government is totally failed to handle the situation,” Nath alleged.
Talking on increasing incidences of road accidents Nath said, entire police forces have been mobilised in all the towns and Agartala city against riders of two-wheelers and as a result, highway, state and district roads were left unmanned and overloaded vehicles were moving at high speed.
“The enforcement which is supposed to be in the major roads and in the city the enforcement is needed to be limited just to regulate the traffic, pedestrian movement and illegal parking but it goes reverse,” Nath alleged.
On the other, absence of quality education the students have been getting degrees in the state but they were not being engaged in the service, as they could not stand before others educated outside states.
Moreover, because of nepotism and corruption, a large number of youths have been marginalised in getting job in the state.
Youths of the poor families who obtained degree from the colleges but not getting job and hired by the industries and corporate, not even being involved in farming activities that generated frustration led to suicide, he pointed out.
Referring to increasing incidences of crime on women, Nath said during left front regime, a peculiar culture has been developed in the state that any criminal gets shelter under ruling party leaders and police have become instrumental to legalise the crime during investigation at the behest of ruling CPI-M.
