TURA: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Southern Zone, Baghmara, recently met the South Garo Hills District Administration regarding its demand for a full fledged Deputy Commissioner for the district.
During the meeting the Union, through the district administration, urged the State Government to speed up the process of sending a full-fledged DC to the district as people of the district were facing various difficulties with regard to official as well as personal works.
It stated that the State Government should not hesitate in fulfilling its demands keeping in view that the district has been running without the head of the administration.
Meanwhile, the union on the same day also met the Additional Superintendent of Police with regard to the Rongprakgre Government School which is being occupied by paramilitary troops.
The ASP assured them that a shelter was being constructed for them which would be completed in a little over 20 days. The ASP also assured that educational institutions would no longer be affected anywhere in the district owing to paramilitary forces as shelters would be set up wherever they were being sent.
