JOWAI: Unidentified miscreants have killed one Marbud Iakai, an accused in a twin-murder case.
The body of Iakai (30), who has been absconding after killing two persons at Umkyrpong village in East Jaintia Hills district, was found inside a jungle at Lher village under Hamren Sub-Division, Karbi-Anglong district on Sunday night.
Sources said that a group of unidentified miscreants came to his rented house at Lher village and dragged him to nearby jungle and killed him.
Hamren Police handed over the body to the WJH Police at Saitsama on Monday.
It may be mentioned here that the deceased along with his friends attacked a family at Umkyrpong village on suspicion of practising witchcraft. Nes Salahe and his sister were killed in the attack.
Police had arrested some of the accused while, the prime accused, Iakai was found absconding until he was found dead on Sunday night.
