KSU demands check gate to restrict infiltration

SHILLONG: Concerned over the alleged infiltration of Bangladeshis into Meghalaya, a delegation of the KSU, Narpuh circle met Home Minister Roshan Warjri on Tuesday and demanded setting up of an infiltration check gate between Sonapyrdi and Tongseng village in East Jaintia Hills. In a memorandum submitted to the Minister, the KSU said that efforts must be made to stop illegal entry of Bangladeshis through the villages.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, KSU Narpuh circle general secretary, Kwilnis Suchiang alleged that large-scale infiltration is taking place through the border villages of Borsora, Huroi, Hingaria, Lejri, Kuliang and Umkiang under East Jaintia Hills. He also alleged that most of these illegal migrants have engaged themselves as labourers in different cement plants in Jaintia Hills.
