Intl Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer observed

SHILLONG: The Social Forestry Division, West Garo Hills, Tura, Forest & Environment Department in collaboration with NSS, Tura Government College and IPTAC, observed the International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer at Ampati Degree College premises on Tuesday.

Based on the theme “Ozone Layer Protection: The Mission goes on”, the day was observed by organising various competitions for school children besides other events.

Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Superintendent of Police, Ampati, R. Muthu stressed on the need to inculcate love and care for the environment from a tender age and also highlighted the richness of biodiversity in Garo Hills. He also emphasised on the need to minimise use of plastic bags to protect the environment.
