Fraud

One Widrick Lamare lodged a complaint at Jowai police station that in June 2013, one Eikihun Chullet took Rs. 8, 50,000 from him but failed to return the same till date.

Bodies recovered

On September 20 at around 11.44 am, one unidentified male body (60) was recovered from Polo Bazar. Cadaver was sent to Civil Hospital Shillong for post mortem.

Dominic T Sangma lodged a complaint at Tura PS that his father Empot Ch Marak was missing from their residence at Ringi Songgital under Araimile BH, Tura (WGH) since September 13. On September 17, the body of his father was recovered by the residents of Danakgre (WGH). The deceased is suspected to have been murdered by unknown miscreants.

Demand note

A woman lodged a complaint at Mawryngkneng PS that on September 19 at around 8 am, she received a demand note for Rs 5 lakh in the name of Phantom Liberation Army (PLA) at her tea shop (EKH).

Assault cases

On September 19 at around 3.45 pm, unidentified boys (8/10) assaulted Rein Hart Marpna (16) at Malki Kharmalki. Victim sustained injuries and was removed to Woodland Hospital.

On September 19 at around 8.30 pm, one Kistonsing Lawai assaulted and threatened Dwiej Lawai Synteng at Madan Langning (EKH).

Rape accused absconds

One Phrolington Nongbak lodged a complaint at Nongstoin PS that on September 18 around 1.30 am, Promoly Barchugre forcibly entered the house of one woman at Mawkumkba village (WKH) and raped her after threatening her with dire consequences. Later, residents of the village detected both of them inside the house and took them to the village Dorbar, but the accused managed to escape.

Threat

A complaint was lodged on September 17 at Nangalbibra PS that since June 12, 2014 Sengchi S Marak and her husband Pranab Rabha have been receiving threatening text messages from one woman Jeby M Sangma in which she also demanded money from the duo.

Truck driver dead

On September 17, one Chandan Rai, driver of 12-wheeler truck (WB-03C-8169) fell ill at Moowakhoo (EJH) and died. Cadaver was sent to CHC Khliehriat for postmortem.

ATM frauds

One Sitimai Khongweing lodged a complaint at Rynjah police station that on September 19 at around 7 pm, she received a phone call from an unidentified person claiming to be SBI officials and asked about her ATM details to which the complainant provided. Later, she came to know that Rs. 49,000 has been withdrawn from her account.

Monindra Deka lodged a complaint at Tura PS that on September 17 at around 12.26 pm, he received a phone call from unidentified persons claiming to be SBI officials from Tura (WGH) and asked about his ATM details to which the complainant provided. Later, he detected that Rs. 41,000 has been withdrawn from his account. This is among the numerous other cases of ATM frauds being reported from the city of late.

Cheating case

Police arrested three persons, K.K. Baba Thomas, Hardayal Singh Bharaj and Meena Bharaj in connection with a cheating case under Madanrting Police Station.
