Naxal camp busted in Chattisgarh
Raipur: Security forces have busted a ‘transit’ camp of Naxals following a gun-battle in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Rajnandgaon district, police said Sunday. A computer monitor, a three-in-one computer printer, a keyboard, a mouse, two radios, printer ink, pitthu (bags), two plastic tents, torches and batteries, medicines and commodities of daily use were recovered from the camping site in Katema forest under Bortalav police station limits Saturday evening, Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Shukla told PTI. Based on specific inputs, a joint squad of the district police force and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police was carrying out a combing operation in the jungles of Bortalav bordering Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh at the time of the incident. When the security forces were cordoning off Kandhura-Naagdevta forests, rebels opened fire. As the jawans retaliated, the ultras fled towards Gondiya and Balaghat forests, the SP said. Blood stains at the spot indicated that some ultras might have been killed or injured, he added. (PTI)
Nurse found dead in LNJP Hospital staff quarters
New Delhi: A 45-year-old nurse was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside her room in LNJP Colony of central Delhi. Police said the deceased was identified as Nirmala, who was working at LNJP Hospital and lived in the staff quarters. According to police, the matter came to light
Saturday night when the brother of the nurse, a native of Sonipat area of Haryana, visited her. The woman, who used to visit her maternal house in Haryana every Saturday to meet her parents, did not go there this week. “When she didn’t reach her parental home yesterday (Saturday), her brother decided to check on her. Last (Saturday) night, when he reached Nirmala’s room, he found her lying unconscious in bath tub,” said a police officer, adding that some valuables are said to be missing from her room. Police said that she was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead. “Police are awaiting her autopsy report to ascertain the exact cause of her death and further investigation is on,” he said. PM chose not to warn those spewing venom against Muslims: Azam
Rampur (UP): Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan took a swipe at Narendra Modi over his statement praising Muslims, saying “while the Prime Minister acknowledged Muslims as patriots” he chose not to warn those “spewing venom” against the minority community. In a statement released here Saturday, the senior Samajwadi Party leader said the Prime Minister called Muslims ‘desh bhaktas (patriots)’ but abstained from advising those terming Muslims as “anti-nationals and agents of Al Qaeda” to abstain from making such remarks. “As a matter of fact, he (Modi) has permitted his entire battalion to spew venom against Muslims,” Khan added. The Uttar Pradesh minister said “Muslims have never been victims of misguidance and they had obeyed great leaders of freedom movement like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad…” The Prime Minister said in a television interview that Indian Muslims will live and die for India and that they will not dance to the tunes of terror outfit Al Qaeda. “My understanding is that they are doing injustice towards the Muslims of our country. If anyone thinks Indian Muslims will dance to their tune, they are delusional. “Indian Muslims will live for India, they will die for India — they will not want anything bad for India,” he told CNN in an interview. New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on his birthday and said that both of them are committed to taking India-Japan ties to the next level. “Wishing @AbeShinzo a Happy Birthday!
