Contractor of CM’s bungalow cheated

SHILLONG: The cont-ractor of the Chief Minister’s bungalow lost over Rs 20 lakh after the supplier of intercom for the bungalow built at the cost of Rs 10 crore, fled away with the money.

According to police, Motibar Kharkrang of Forest Colony, who is the contractor of the new building of Chief Minister, lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that in July 2013, one Dipumani Bhattacharya claiming to be an employee of M/s Siemens Enterprise Communications Pvt. Ltd., offered to supply wireless intercom and install the same in the official residence of Chief Minister, at Good Wood Bungalow, and he was paid Rs. 20,93,683 to execute the contract. Later, it was detected that the person was no longer an employee of the Seimens company.

However, it is not known why the complaint was lodged now by the contractor when the contract for supplying intercom was executed in July last year.
