Postponed
Due to the prevailing flood situation in the State, especially in Garo Hills, the programme of distribution of tablets to Class XII students of East Khasi Hills District scheduled on October 2 has been postponed.

Hindi Diwas
Hindi Fortnight was celebrated in Income Tax Dept., Shillong, from Sept 15-26. The function was inaugurated by Joint Commissioner of Income Tax Range, Shillong, M.K. Biswas. Various competitions like Hindi Essay writing, Hindi noting and drafting etc., were held.
Hindi Diwas was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Nongstoin in collaboration with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nongpyndeng (Nongstoin) recently.
Financial help
The Shillong Akhanda Mandali extended a token financial help to members of the two families who were killed in the landslide at Mawbah (Barapathar) recently.
Appeal
The Meghalaya Lok Jan Shakti Party has appealed to the HNLC to call off their proposed bandh keeping in mind the Durga Puja which is the biggest festival of the Hindu community. The party also said that the bandh call may hurt the sentiments and feelings of the Hindu community.
Campaign
The Cantonment Board, Shillong, will observe the Swachh Bharat campaign by organizing a run for Clean India, slogan competition and tree plantation on October 2. The programme will start with a pledge for cleanliness to be followed by the run at 6.30 am and tree plantation thereafter.
Dry day
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has declared dry days throughout the entire district from Oct 2-4 on account of Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary and Durga Puja.
