Renowned Tura academician no more

TURA: Dr. Kaushik Bhattacharjee, a renowned academician of Tura, breathed his last on Sept 24 at the Tura Civil Hospital, leaving behind his wife Dr. Sumita Bhattacharjee, Asst. Professor, Tura Govt. College.

Dr. Bhattacharjee served as a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Tura Govt. College, for over three decades after passing his Masters from Delhi University.

After his stint in Tura Govt. College, he joined as Principal, College of Teacher Education, Rongkhon, a position he held till 2010.

He had been instrumental in the formation of the Meghalaya Science Society, Tura and the inauguration of Tura Science Centre.

Dr. Bhattacharjee, who was born and brought up in Shillong, had made Garo Hills his home for the last three decades.
