RESUBELPARA: Chairman of Meghalaya State Planning Board, S.C. Marak, has asked leaders not to play politics during the relief operations in Garo Hills.

The North Garo Hills district administration on Wednesday held a meeting with the Sordar and Nokma of the district even as officials estimate a total of 27 lives lost to floods while 4549 households have been severely affected in the district.

The meeting assured stakeholders of assistance and full cooperation in providing relief and rehabilitation.

Appreciating the steps taken by the district administration, Marak wanted to ensure that no one plays party politics while undertaking relief work and urged the Sordar and Nokma to take note of the matter.

During the meeting cheques were also handed over to families with fully damaged households.
