TURA: The A’chik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF) has strongly condemned the Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBOSE) for its earlier notification to teachers who did not secure 45% marks in their HSSLC/PU examinations to reappear for the same.

Expressing solidarity with the affected teachers, the militant outfit termed the notification as absurd considering that many of the teachers were on the verge of retiring with only a few years of service left, and added that the new rule could be applied to aspiring teachers who were yet to be appointed.

It, however, warned the teachers of Garo Hills to perform their duties with dedication and warned of strong action if they were found to be neglecting their duties.

With regard to development in terms of transport the outfit demanded from the government that all timber bridges in Garo Hills are upgraded to RCC like in other parts of the State and the country.

Other demands made by the outfit included the electrification of all Garo Hills villages under the rural electrification scheme, resumption of works by contractors on all roads which have been left pending and the proper and efficient distribution of relief funds from the Centre to the victims of the recent floods and landslides in Garo Hills.

“All concerned persons and officials must see that our demands are fulfilled otherwise our organization will take action as we deem fit,” self-styled commander-in-chief of AMEF, Chang Matgrik, said in a statement.
