NGOs demand construction of Nongstoin-Urkali road in WKH

NONGSTOIN: Five NGOs of West Khasi Hills District including the West Khasi Students’ Union, Western Youth Welfare Council, Western Youth Federation, Western People Movement and Hynniewtrep People Social Organization recently met the Executive Engineer PWD (Roads), Nongstoin Division, and demanded immediate construction of the Nongstoin- Urkali road which has turned from bad to worse creating immense problems for the people of the area as the road leads to the Nongstoin Civil Hospital.

During the meeting, the PWD EE assured that construction of the road would be taken up immediately.

“The EE has assured immediate action in order to start the construction work within November and would be undertaken by BSC C&C JV. He also mentioned that the sanctioned fund for the said construction work was yet to be received by the PWD,” Joseph Nongsiej, president of WYWC, said after the meeting with the PWD official.
