Beautification of  Shillong skyline

SHILLONG: In order to beautify the skyline of Shillong, the State Government intends to replace the existing hoardings with digital ones.

However, the plan will take some time to materialise as several factors have to be taken into account before the project is initiated.

Addressing pressmen regarding the same on Tuesday, Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the department intends to come up with signages which will make the Shillong skyline look better.

However, she said, that replacing the existing hoardings with digital ones would be a herculean task considering the fact that a whole lot of factors such as power supply etc., have to be worked out before any such move is made.

She also noted that the Shillong Municipal Board gets sizeable revenue from the hoardings.

Meanwhile, the Urban Affairs Minister stated that the PWD is working on a pavement improvement scheme from Police Bazar to Shani Mandir and the department may put up running signages at the base of the pavement to give the area a different look.
