JOWAI: Peeved by the erratic power supply in East Jaintia Hills, headmen and village secretaries of as many as 50 villages met on Saturday to constitute a “monitor committee against unstable power supply”.

Headman of Wapungskur village, Satly Ryngkhlem, who was elected the president of the committee, said that irregular power supply has adversely affected all kind of activities in the district besides affecting the students preparing for their final examinations.

“The committee will monitor power supply in the district and also keep track of any issues related to the supply of electricity,” Ryngkhlem said while demanding stable and regular power supply in the entire district.

The meet also resolved to submit a memorandum to the Power Minister on this issue.
