62% of families in Arunachal enrolled under CMUHIS

Itanagar:An estimated 62 per cent of the total 2,61,614 families in Arunachal Pradesh has been enrolled under the ambitious Chief Minister Universal Health Insurance Scheme to provide quality and affordable healthcare facilities to the people.
Addressing a sensitising workshop on activation of smart cards for all district medical officers and hospital superintendents here on Monday.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said the state government has sanctioned an Rs ten crore for activation of the insurance scheme. The scheme, launched in the state on February 20 last, was aimed at providing cashless treatment to all sections of people in the state by giving a coverage of Rs two lakh for almost all categories of diseases as specified in the empowered committee approved and notified list of diseases. “People can avail free treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals located in the state including other parts of the country,” Tuki said.
Reimbursement facility for one way transportation (from the patient’s residence to hospital) to the tune of Rs 50,000 would be paid if the head of the family dies in the hospital due to accident.
“There is also provision of payment of Rs 100 per day up to seven days if the head of the family is admitted to the hospital,” he said. Tuki also suggested for constituting monitoring committees at the state as well as in district level for successful implementation of the scheme.
The Chief Minister asked the health managers to work with commitment on a mission mode for success of the ambitious scheme.
“The scheme, if successfully implemented will bring a revolutionary change in the dismal health scenario of the state,” he said
Regional Manager of New India Assurance Arun Chandra Borgohain said the company had already inked a MoU with all government general hospitals in the state and covered 62 per cent of families under the scheme. (PTI)
