SHILLONG: Angelbeth Lyngdoh Nongpuir, the city girl who was publicly assaulted following the alleged kidnapping of one Mohan Pedgu, was released on bail by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate.

Nongpiur was arrested on the basis of an FIR lodged by Pegu’s wife, Saralin Marbaniang on October 11 alleging that she had kidnapped her husband.

It was on October 27 that Nongpiur’s legal counsel, Sujit Dey moved the bail application.

As per the accused, Pegu was never kidnapped by her.

The legal counsel also argued that Pegu was not abducted or confined by the accused. Instead he insisted that the accused takes him to Guwahati.

After hearing both the counsels, the Court granted bail to the accused.

Nongpiur is now planning to file case against those involved in assaulting and defaming her.
