Bangladesh to host Maitri Tourism in Agartala

Agartala:To promote tourism sector of Bangladesh in Tripura, Tripura Tourism Development Forum and Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development have jointly organized four days programe Maitri Tourism-2014 here from November 14.

Talking to media today, president of Tripura Tourism Development Forum (TTDF) Ajit Kumar Pal said Bangladesh civil aviation and tourism minister Rashid Khan Menon will head a 15 member delegation from Bangladesh.

He will be attending tourism road show on the next day in Agartala and interaction with the policy makers as well as tour operators of the state to sketch out formal tourism package between Tripura and Bangladesh.

As part of Maitri Tourism, Bangladesh delegation is scheduled to attend seminar and workshop in the city besides, visiting all the major tourism destinations of Tripura with small performance in each of the spots to motivate the localities in tourism business and also to show case Bangladesh tourism, Mr Pal said.

“This will not only boost tourism of India and Bangladesh, also further stronger people to people relationship and bilateral trade in two countries too,” Mr Pal opined adding Bangladesh is positive to start tourism packages with Tripura at an affordable cost and hassle free arrangement.

He however, pointed out both India and Bangladesh had agreed to liberalize visa policy long back but in practice still visitors of both the countries are facing inconvenience to get visa because of administrative formalities.(UNI)
