Nagaland govt calls for harmonious society

Kohima:The Nagaland government has called for a peaceful and harmonious society characterised by equality, liberty, religious tolerance and other ideal principles of democracy. Nagaland Parliamentary Secretary for Information Technology Tovihoto Ayemi, addressing a gathering of the Bijoya Sammellan-cum-annual function in Dimapur last evening, appealed to non-Naga communities to be ambassadors of the good qualities of the Naga people.  He was making a reference to the spate of racial attacks on Nagas and other Northeast people taking place in different parts of the country, which do not find any repercussions in Nagaland.  Mr Tovihoto pointed out that there was no issue of non-Christians being mistreated or killed in Nagaland unlike other states across the country, where Christians were being persecuted.  The chief guest was also appreciative of the Bengali Hindu Community of Dimapur for organising such programme and sending out a message of brotherhood, oneness and unity in the society for a peaceful coexistence.
