More students were victims of paedophile tution teacher
Mumbai:Police on Tuesday claimed that more students were victims of the 40-year-old paedophile tuition teacher who was arrested by police yesterday for sexually assaulting and recording sexual acts with two teenage Class 10 students. According to S Tondwalkar, senior inspector of Bhoiwada police sttaion, accused Savio Alfred D’Sa who was arrested from his home in Parel was unmarried and ran a private tuition. During interrogation it emerged that some more students were also victims of the accused and hence police is recording their statements. According to the police, there are 35 students studying in D’Sa’s class and two of them complained to their parents about his acts.D’Sa has been booked under stringent sections 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) and 12 (punishment for sexual assault), of the POSCO Act, as well as section 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC. Father beaten up with iron rods for lodging police complaint
Malda(WB): A father has been brutally beaten up with iron rods in Malda after he lodged a police complaint against a man who made indecent proposals to his daughter, the police said on Tuesday. The man, Jena Chowdhury, filed a complaint against Rintu Sheikh at Pukuria police station on November 8 last following the indecent proposals made to his 25-year-old daughter, which she had spurned, the police said. Sheikh went to Chowdhury’s house at Lakkhighat area on Monday and threatened him for approaching the police and then beat him with iron rods, the police said. Chowdhury was admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital and the injuries inflicted on his eyes were serious, hospital authorities said.Malda superintendent of police Prasun Banerjee said the police was investigating the matter and would take appropriate action. Meanwhile, Sheikh is absconding from the area, the police said. The woman used to stay with her parents at Lakkhighat after she became a widow. (PTI)
3 naxals involved in attack on Congressman’s house arrested
Raipur:Three naxals, involved in the attack on the house of Congress leader Awdhesh Gautam in 2010, have been arrested in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Dantewada district, police said on Tuesday.The cadres — Dewa Kunjam (25), Barse Manjhi (30) and Kuma Kunjam (25)– were apprehended by a joint squad of CRPF and district force from restive forests of Kuwakonda police station limits Monday evening, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap told PTI. Later, the personnel encircled the area and nabbed them, the SP said. The ultras were involved in several major naxal incidents, including the attack on the house of Congress leader Awdhesh Gautam in Kuwakonda (2010) that left two civilians dead, besides damaging Potali Ashram school in Aranpur by triggering a blast (2008), and blocking highways during Maoist bandh and attacks on security forces, the SP said.They are being interrogated, he added. Rs 62.5 lakh Hawala money seized, 3 held
Chennai:In a swift operation, officers of the Directorate of Enforcement, Chennai Zone, seized Rs 62.5 lakhs Hawala money received on behalf of a person in Saudi Arabia, and arrested three people in this connection. In a press release here on Tuesday, Enforcement Directorate (ED) Joint Director K S V V Prasad said the ED officials unearthed the hawala gang based in Kanniyakumari district and operating in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The raids carried out at the residence of one, Abraham Jayakumar, a hawala racketeer as well as a Karate instructor in Kovilvilai, Keezhkulam Post in Kanniyakumari district, yielded Indian currency Rs 62.5 lakhs. The officials also recovered incriminating documents. The seized money was part of the amount transacted in hawala payments received on behalf of a person in Saudi Arabia and it was meant for further distribution to the local persons.(UNI)
Married woman gang raped in south-west Delhi
New Delhi: A 30-year-old married woman has charged four men with allegedly gang raping her at a guest house in South-West Delhi’s Dwarka area, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred late last night when the woman had gone to the guest house to sort out a financial matter with the four accused who were known to her, a police official said. Instead of returning the money, the four accused sexually assaulted her at the guest house, the official said quoting the woman’s complaint. Three of the four accused, identified as Vikas, Anil and Ramesh have been arrested and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused. The woman, who is married and has a child, filed a case of gang rape at Dwarka South police station, police said adding further investigations are underway. (PTI)
