Kohima:Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang on Wednesday said it is time for young leaders should arise in Nagaland to set new agendas of social change through the process of changing the people’s mindset.
Addressing as the chief guest at the launching of Leaders Arise Nagaland (LAN) in Kohima, Mr Zeliang said, the areas where much needed change has to take place are, in attitude and mindset towards manual works, especially construc-tion works.
At present, he said, there appears to be a peculiar mind block towards taking up manual works. What we need is change of the wrong mindset, which I believe should start with the youth and be sphere- headed by the youthful leaders of Nagaland.
The Chief Minister said, almost every day the youth talk about dangers posed by the influx of illegal immigrant to our state. Therefore, the best way to counter this threat is to urgently build up our own Local Construction Work force, he said.
Only after we are prepared to take over the construc-tion works, than we will be able to deal with the problem of illegal immigrants more effectively.
Mr Zeliang citing example on Germany celebrating the 25th anniversary of the ‘Fall of Berlin Wall’, what is worth noting is that it was not the military might of NATO and the Western world that broke down the wall, rather, it was the power of the German people, particularly the younger generation who were tired and angry with the artificial division of their people by the world.
It must also be noted that in all such movements the triggered is pressed by a band of dedicated leaders to start the ball rolling and become a mass movement. He wished the best in fulfilling the mission to start such a mass social movement aimed at reforming our society.
Addressing the function as the Special Guest, the Governor of Odisha and former Nagaland Chief Minister S C Jamir on Wednesday said, Nagas are going through a very hard time which we can call the testing times.
Addressing as the special guest at the launching of Leaders Arise Nagaland, in Kohima, he said the State today is surrounded by evil and negative forces which have effectively demolished the socio-political system including governance.
Violence, killing, gun-culture, hatred, divisive forces and massive corrup-tion have contributed to systematic collapse in Nagaland.
He cautioned the Nagas will commit a monumental blunder if they waste their present by eulogizing and singing praise to the past.
Mr Jamir wished that Nagas should dethrone hate, hypocrisy, truth-fulness, peace and compassion in the hearts.(UNI)
