111 BSF to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in Nagaland

Kohima:In commemoration of its 50th Raising Day (Golden Jubilee), Border Security Force (BSF) would be organising various events to channelise the energy for young generation towards government jobs. In a release here, 111 Battalion BSF, Satakha has launched a pre-recruitment training programme for local youths of Nagaland to make them aware about government jobs and preparing them at unit campus Satakha for one month from November 20 as first batch.Altogether, 102 candidates including female aspirants are attending the training. Border Security Force (BSF) is imparting physical training and theoretical knowledge for recruitment in government jobs, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Police Forces and Defence.A total 111 BSF battalion was raised with Naga rebel cadres after they were willing to join the mainstream. AIUDF MLAs file defamation case against news channel

Barpeta(Assam):AIUDF MLAs of Barpeta district on Thursday filed a defamation case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate here against a national news channel which had telecast a news alleging the party’s president Badruddin Ajmal was involved in jihadi activities. AIUDF MLAs – Abdur Rahim Khan (Barpeta), Rafiqul Islam (Jania), Ali Hussain (Sarukshetry), Abdul Kalam Azad (Bhabanipur), along with party Barpeta district president Samsuddin Ahmed and secretary Sabibar Rahman, jointly filed the case in the CJM court.They filed the case under section IPC 500 (punishment for defamation), IPC 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) and IPC 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against NOIDA-based news channel’s Managing Director, Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief and Editor-Director. Prez to deliver NIT convocation address on Nov 21

Itanagar:President Pranab Mukherjee will deliver the first convocation address of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here on November 21 when 77 B.Tech graduates will receive their degrees. Honorary Doctorate of Education would be conferred to Royal University of Bhutan Vice-Chancellor Prof Pema Thinley for his significant contribution in nurturing and promoting values and ethics in higher and technical education. State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and Speaker Nabam Rebia would be among the dignitaries scheduled to attend the convocation. (PTI)

70 houses burnt in Arunachal fire

Itanagar:At least 70 houses were burnt in a fire that engulfed remote Kerang village in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Houses and properties worth crores were destroyed in the flame. However, there was no report of any casualty, an official report said here on Thursday. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki directed the concerned department to immediately provide relief to the victims. He also sought a detailed report. Demanding immediate relief assistance, the West Siang Disaster Management department has provided an amount of Rs 4000 each to the affected household. (PTI)
