Reservation Policy in place while recruiting Govt employees: CM

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Monday asserted that the State Government is strictly implementing the Reservation policy while recruiting Government employees.

Replying to the queries of Chokpot MLA Clifford Marak on the floor of the house, the Chief Minister informed that altogether 33 Gazetted Garo officers are working in Meghalaya Civil Secretariat.

He also said that altogether there are 101 LDAs and 28 UDAs in Meghalaya Civil Secretariat

He also stated that the total number of grade four Garo staff in Meghalaya Civil Secretariat is 146.

Reacting to a query, Mukul Sangma admitted that many vacancies could not be filled up.

Asked if the Garos from Assam and Bangladesh also falls under Reservation policy, Mukul Sangma asserted that any Garo who applies for a job must be a citizen of India.

It may be mentioned that under the Reservation policy, 40-40 percent jobs are reserved for Khasi- Jaintia and Garo community while 15 percent is reserved for general category and 5 percent is reserved for OBCs.
