WGH beat EJH

SHILLONG: In the Inter District Cricket Tournament (Under-19 age category), organized by Meghalaya Cricket Association; in Yesterday match, West Garo defeated debutant participant and associate member East Jaintia Hills by a convincing margin of 52 runs. Winning the toss, East Jaintia electing to field first managed to restrict the opponent to a modest score of 118 all out in 25.5 overs with Arshan C. Sangma and Bishal Hajong scoring 36 and 26 runs respectively for West Garo, while Arky Pajuh claiming 3 wickets for East Jaintia. In reply East Jaintia were all out for a meagre 66 runs with Glorybor n Nongtdu scoring 18 runs. Elchiang Momin claimed 4 wickets while Ismail Sangma scalped 2 wickets. In today’s match West Garo Hills will clash with East Khasi Hills.

SHILLONG: The 3rd Ardhendu Chaudhuri Memorial Invitation Tennis ball Cricket Tournament organised by Rilbong Sports & Cultural Club will be held from 18th December,2014 onward at Rilbong ground under artificial lighting system.

Kerala girls rout Tamil Nadu in junior national TT

Alappuzha: The Kerala girls routed Tamil Nadu 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the 76th Junior National and Youth Table Tennis Championships at the S.D.V. Centenary Auditorium here Wednesday. The hosts will now take on Telangana, who scrapped past depleted reigning champions West Bengal 3-2, in the semi-final Thursday. For the record, Telangana are making their maiden national appearance. The other semi-final will pit Maharashtra A against their B team in Junior Girls as the former defeated Andhra Pradesh 3-1 while the B team downed Karnataka in straight games. Kerala girls, with the most experienced Maria and the promising Seraha in their ranks, did not have to sweat it out much against an equally tough Tamil Nadu which had the likes of Selenadeepthi and Harshavardhini for the singles and doubles specialist Yashini. Yet, the host team with crowd backing, not only won their matches but also local hearts.

Philippines beat Indonesia 4-0 to reach AFF Cup semi-finals

HANOI: Philippines booked their place in the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup on Wednesday with a 4-0 win over a 10-man Indonesia at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.
