SHILLONG: Christ International Senior Secondary School, Nongsder celebrated the advance Christmas in a mega way on Saturday.
Governor K.K.Paul was the Chief Guest of the Festival, Urban Affairs Minister .Ampareen Lyngdoh, Rangbah Shnong of Nongsder Village Welcome Shangpliang, Army Officers, religious leaders from different communities also attended the function along with other government officials.
More than five thousand people from all over North East and neighbouring villages of Nongsder witnessed the event.
The festival was celebrated with the theme Celebrating peace and brotherhood. The events included programmes like food fest, carol songs competition and distribution of North East awards to many outstanding personalities of north east besides many cultural programmes performed by the students of Christ School.
Trinity Voices, Pynthorumkhrah bagged the first prize in the choir competition by winning a award of Rs.25,000 along with a trophy.
Meanwhile, Evangelical Tree Church of India, Demthring was adjudged as the first runner up in the choir competion received a cash aware of Rs.15,000 while In You Choir Group who was declared the second runner up receive a cash award of Rs.10,000
Best Costume bagged by the Auxilium Girls Higher Secondary School, Shillong received cash of Rs.3000 and Best Music bagged by St.Dominic Choir Group by cash Rs.3000.
On the occasion, Amrit Kumar Gold Smith won the Peace Award 2014, Fr.Dr.Jose Chunkapura SDB won the Social service Award 2014, Dr Donald Kosh won Tribal Literature award 2014 and Rama Krishna Mission, received the Youth and education award 2014.
