Shillong Cricket Association emerge champions

SHILLONG: In the Inter District U -19 category Cricket Tournament organized by Meghalaya Cricket Association, Shillong Cricket Association emerged victorious against debutant EJH. Winning the toss, EJH opting to bat first struggled throughout the innings except for a last wicket partnership to reach 123 all out in 30.3 overs with Shyam Tamang scoring 23 runs(34 balls) and Sambhu Rana 17 runs(24 balls). Lakhan Singh claimed 4 wickets (29 runs) and Pankaj Mandal scalped 3 wickets (19 runs) for SCA. In reply SCA was in control from the beginning and overtook EJH total with ease scoring 124 in 25.2 overs with Rajesh Tati scoring 47 runs(47 balls) and skipper Rohit Thapa 26 runs(40 balls). Shyam Tamang of EJH took 2 wickets(27 runs). SCA won convincingly by 6 wickets. Ibitlang Thabah of East Khasi Hills was nominated as the promising young cricketer of the tournament. He was awarded the MCA study scholarship of Rs 6000/= for the coming academic year 2015 and a cricket bat. Naba Bhattacharjee, Honorary Secretary MCA gave away the trophies in presence of Gideon Kharkongor, General Secretary SCA, President EJH and other officials.
