Tura MP Stadium’s name changed

SHILLONG: The MP Stadium in Tura has been changed to Dikki-Bandi Stadium by a name changing committee chaired by the Minister for General Affairs Department in a meeting held recently this week .

The name was approved after a series of discussion at the managing committee meetings chaired by Zenith M Sangma, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs.

All the members including MLA South Tura , MDC Tura and Chairman GHADC unanimously expressed the need to change the name to one which signifies and celebrates A.chik pride .

The name Dikki-Bandi was suggested by L R Ch Momin MDC , Tura and P K Sangma, Chairman , GHADC selected unanimously by the members and senior invited citizens as it epitomizes the heroics of two great mythological heroes of the Achiks (Garos).

Dikki and Bandi were celebrated for their prowess, valour, agility, beauty, leadership qualities, bravery and statesmanship and their qualities complemented each other.
