Margao: Royal Wahingdoh would look to collect full points when they face Sporting Cube de Goa in their crucial Group A league match of the Federation Cup football tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.

Royal Wahingdoh, who are having a good run in this tournament, put up stiff resistance against East Bengal after being down to 10 men in 15 minutes and were unlucky for not earning a point as they conceded a last minute goal in the extra time scored by Dudu.

They are now on three points from a win and a loss and a win tomorrow will take them to six points, the same as Dempo, two points more than East Bengal (4) and Mumbai FC (4) and keep their chance alive to make it to the semi-finals.

Sporting Clube de Goa, who have lost both their matches, are at the bottom of the table.

The North East club have a compact defence. Striker Jackichand Singh who has combined well along with Satyasen Singh upfront has been the mainstay in the attack, his quick running has troubled the opponents’ defence. Tomorrow, Sporting defence will have a tough time in contending them. Midfielder Densil Theobald has kept the attack moving. Loveday Oechwu, who was outstanding against East Bengal, will be the man on whom they will rely to keep the rival attack at bay.

Sporting lacked cohesion in the midfield and they will be looking to Kalu and Mauvin Borges to lead the attack. The Goan side’s success will depend much on striker Anthony Wolfe who will have to deliver the good. (PTI)
