Expansion works for Fire Brigade, Polo junctions in the offing

SHILLONG: Having completed the beautification work of the Laitumkhrah junction, the State Government will look to begin the expansion work for the Fire Brigade junction, the land acquisition process for which is already at an advanced stage, within this year.
In addition, the government is also contemplating to expand the Polo junction which is among the most congested in the city.
According to sources, a meeting would be convened by the Urban Affairs department on January 19 to discuss the expansion plans and proposals.
The State Government is also working on the expansion of the Motphran junction which has a historical significance.
It may be mentioned that the Government is looking to renovate several important junctions in order to reduce traffic snarls in the city.
