SHILLONG: Shillongites can now enjoy clean and hygienic meat as the Shillong Abattoir being constructed at Mawiong would be ready for operations by end of February.
Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Deborah Marak has informed that the implementing agency was giving final touches to the abattoir which would be handed over to the State government in the last part of February.
The project was initially slated for completion by April 2013, but the date was rescheduled to December and again to March 2014. However, the work could not be completed in 2014.
It may be mentioned that the abattoir is being constructed at a cost of Rs.22 crore by the Rapsang Group of Companies, Shillong, in collaboration with Real Growth Company, Chennai.
