Naxals kill 2 men branding them as informers
Raipur:Maoists kidnapped two villagers and killed them after branding them as police informers in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Narayanpur district, police said on Monday. Ramlal and Manter, natives of Aatpal and Bailapad villages respectively, were murdered by the rebels who branded them as police informers, Narayanpur SP Amit Tukaram Kamble told PTI. As per preliminary investigation, the duo was abducted by Naxalites on January 14 from their respective places. After their interrogation, the ultras held a kangaroo court on Saturday evening where they executed the two villagers, the SP said. The bodies of the victims were recovered in a forest under Farasgaon police station limits yesterday. Prime facie, it appears that they were strangulated to death, Kamble said, adding that the post-mortem would ascertain the exact cause of their death. After being informed about the incident, security personnel were rushed to the spot to recover the bodies. (PTI)

PWD junior engineer convicted of raping his employee
New Delhi:A junior engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) has been convicted by a Delhi court for raping his woman employee by concealing his marital status and obtaining her consent to establish physical relation. Additional Sessions Judge Virender Bhat, while convicting Delhi resident Akshay Kumar, said that the consent given by the victim was “not voluntary but a tainted one based upon misconception of fact”. “The acts of sexual intercourse between the prosecutrix and the accused thus tantamount to rape and the accused is liable to be convicted under section 376 (rape) of IPC and hence convicted,” the court, which is yet to pronounce the quantum of sentence, said. It noted that, “it is manifest beyond doubt that the victim had given consent to the physical relation with him on the belief that he is a widower and would marry her.” (PTI)
