SHILLONG: Aircel’s North East Circle Business head Nilaj Mahalanavis has claimed that the mobile service provider is catering to the villages along the Indo-Bangla border in adherence with the laws of the Union Government which restrict the signal of mobile companies 500 metres inside the international border.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, he said that Aircel is probably the only company in Meghalaya which provides services to the border villages but the company has to abide  by the laws framed by the Union Government.
Reacting to a query, he said that the company would further improve its services in Shillong from March as it has rolled out another spectrum for the purpose.
He, however, rued that people in Shillong are not willing to offer their land to the company to install towers which would further improve the services here.
