Ranbir Kapoor says     director Imtiaz Ali     and lyricist Irshad Kamil, with whom he worked in 2011 hit ‘Rockstar’, have contributed a lot to his success in Bollywood.
The 32-year-old actor was lavishly praised by fans and critics for his intense performance of a college student, whose turbulent love story turns him into a rockstar in the romantic saga. Ranbir is again collaborating with the duo in his upcoming movie ‘Tamasha’, which also stars his ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewa-ni’ co-star Deepika.
“Their contribution to the film industry is well known and to my career it has been immense. I cherish working with Imtiaz. He and Irshad are responsible for what I have achieved in Bollywood with ‘Rockstar’. “I have worked with Irshad in two other films, besides ‘Rockstar’ so I have a deep association with him
. When I heard the songs of ‘Rockstar’, especially ‘Jo Bhi Mai…’, it gives you a sense of the gaps you feel as an actor, that you know are hard to fill in through a performance, Irshad fills those with his words and it makes your character more believable,” he said.
The ‘Barfi!’ star, who along with Imtiaz released Irshad’s new book of poems here, said he finds poetry difficult to comprehend but is learning from the lyricist on the sets of ‘Tamasha’. “Poetry is something you need to understand. You can read it but there are many deep meanings behi-nd the words written in it.
Working with Imtiaz and especially on ‘Tamasha’, which has a lot to do with story-telling and poetry. I’ve spent a lot time with Irshad and A R Rahman in the recordings,” he said. The actor has always maintai-ned he would love to ventu-re into direction sometime in future but does not think himself capable enough to take up writing. “Writing requires certain kind of skills, which I don’t think I have. I think I can’t write, just like I can’t take to singing,” he said. (PTI)
