JOWAI: The KSU Jaintia Hills Unit on Tuesday met West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar and demanded deletion of all names of non-tribals appeared in the electoral rolls of Meghalaya, particularly those registered in various Assembly constituencies of Jaintia Hills District.
The KSU unit also asked the district administration to discontinue enrolment of doubtful citizens without proper verification and without recommendation from the respective headmen.
The KSU further claimed that it has detected some foreigners enrolled in the electoral roll which is against the Constitution.
The Deputy Commissioner, however, claimed that the Rangbah Shnong were responsible for the same. “If they recommend any non-tribal, I cannot do anything,” Dkhar told the KSU members, while assuring that he would take appropriate steps to mitigate the situation.
