SHILLONG: Claims and counter claims continued for the third day as Independent MDC from Mawhati, James Sylliang threatened to expose the names of the ARPA MDCs who met him with the offer to join the ruling coalition in the KHADC.
Sylliang reiterated that the MDCs who met him offered him the post of Deputy Chairman of the Council.
It may be mentioned that the post of Deputy Chairman was lying vacant since the resignation of Sohryngkham HSPDP MDC, Pyniaid N Syiem.
Earlier, Sylliang had claimed that KHADC CEM Adelbert Nongrum had offered him the post of Deputy Chairman. However, on Thursday, the KHADC CEM rubbished Sylliang’s claim.
A day later, the Independent MDC has warned the CEM “not to spread rumours to mislead people”.
“I will definitely reveal the names of the MDCs if they do not stop playing dirty politics to defame my image,” Sylliang told newsmen here on Friday.
The Mawhati independent MDC said that he did not want to be a part of the coalition which is leading a “toothless Executive Committee”.
Meanwhile, Sohryngkham HSPDP MDC, Pyniaid N Syiem on Friday revealed that he had purposely skipped the ARPA meeting on Thursday.
“The CEM only calls for a meeting when he feels that his chair is not secure,” Syiem alleged while admitting that he was intimated about the meeting two days back.
He said that the CEM never felt the urgency to call an emergency meeting of all the Rangbah Shnong to discuss the ruling of the High Court even after suggestions were given in this regard.
“But sadly he (Nongrum) has till date not responded to the suggestion I had made. This clearly reflects the lack of sincerity on the part of the CEM towards issues concerning the people,” the Sohryngkham HSPDP MDC added.
