SHILLONG:  Thousands of students on Monday defied HNLC-called bandh to appear in the Class XI MBoSE internal promotion examination.
“There was 100 per cent attendance of students in all the six districts of Khasi and Jaintia Hills,” MBoSE Executive Chairman EP Kharbih told newsmen here on Monday.
He lauded the authorities of various schools for taking initiative to hold the examination despite of the bandh call.
When asked about those students who could not make it on Monday, the MBoSE official said that the board has left it to the wisdom of the respective school authorities to address this matter.
According to the MBoSE executive chairman, more than 18,000 students from Khasi and Jaintia Hills appeared in Monday’s examination.
Interestingly, it was informed that the school authorities of Laban Boy’s Bengalee Higher Secondary School had to call a student who did not turn up to appear for the examination.
The student was surprised to be informed by the school authorities about the examination, which was going on as scheduled.
The school authorities asked the student to rush to the school and appear in the examination.
