Teenaged girls allegedly harassed in Labour Commissioner’s house

Guwahati: Assam state Labour Commissioner, Chohan Doley has faced allegation of sexually and physically harassing two teenaged girls who were kept as maids at his Guwahati residence.
The girls, who escaped from Doley’s house situated at Barbari area under Dispur police station, were  rescued by police at Satgaon area, on the outskirts of the city. Childline sources said they received  information of the two rescued girls from Satgaon police and accordingly, took the two girls under their protection.
Based on the statements by the two girls, Childline authorities and Dispur police conducted a raid at the house of Doley, in search of a third teenaged girl who was also allegedly kept in the house as a maid.
“We could not find the third girl as she must have been sent away on receiving information of the raid. The other two girls are with us now and necessary tests to ascertain whether they had been abused will be conducted,” Childline sources said. One of the rescued girl is 13 years old, while the other is 16 years old. Doley was summoned to Dispur police station for questioning.
