JOWAI: Jaintia Hills-based NGOs-Jaintia Students’ Movement (JSM), Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) and the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement- have called for a “public meeting” for deliberation on setting up of a residential school under Khliehriat C&RD Block.
The meeting will be held on March 7 at Rangad village in East Jaintia Hills.
The Centre has sanctioned two residential schools in East Jaintia Hills under Saipung C&RD Block and Khliehriat Block.
The NGOs are strongly opposed to Byndihati as the location for the residential school under Khliehria C&RD Block.
“Byndihati village falls under semi urban area, whereas as per central guidelines, the school should be set up in the rural area,” the NGOs said in a statement.
