NEHU molestation case
SHILLONG: The North-Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) on Tuesday convened an urgent meeting with the Naga Post Graduate Students’ Union (NPGSU) and the Khasi Students’ Union (NEHU Unit) with regard to the molestation of a girl inside the university campus recently.
The student bodies, under the banner of the NEHUSU, strongly condemned the incident and maintained that law should take its own course.
The Union also urged the students of the University to maintain cordial relation while adding that the incident was not communal in nature but act of individuals.
Recently, unidentified miscreants assaulted and molested a girl inside the NEHU Campus. According to Police, all the accused hailed from Nagaland.

Meanwhile, the office of the Assistant Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, Shillong has claimed that none of the accused in the molestation of a girl at NEHU Campus was from Nagaland.
“We have verified and ascertained from the students of Nagaland studying in NEHU that none of the accused is from the State (Nagaland),” Assistant Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, Shillong T Imtiwapang Aier said in a statement issued here on Tuesday. He also said that the incident has instilled fear among the student community from Nagaland studying in NEHU and Shillong.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya State Women Commission (MSCW) has strongly condemned the molestation of the girl at NEHU campus.
“We will want the police to take stringent action against those in the shameful act,” MSWC said.
