SHILLONG: A delegation of Meghalaya Government will go to New Delhi shortly to know the status of the proposed amendment to the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution
Informing this here on Tuesday, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the official delegation during its visit would press upon the Central Government for early amendment to the Sixth Schedule.
Stating that his Government has asked the Union Government to share the draft amendment proposal with it, Sangma said that he has already instructed the concerned department to take up the matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“It is incumbent upon the Central Government to fulfill the commitment,” Sangma told reporters while slamming the NPP for its reaction over the non-listing of amendment to the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution in the business of the ongoing budget session of Parliament
“It (NPP) thought it is a good chance to attack the Government,” Sangma said.
