Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Monday criticised opposition BJP for “breaching” the sanctity of the assembly by staging a walkout during the discus-sion on vote-on-account.
“Arunachal Pradesh is known as a symbol of demo-cracy nationally, but the opposition has brea-ched its sanctity,” Tuki said in the assembly. The opposition members were not behaving like elected mem-bers but working under somebody’s direction, he said.
“Many of the BJP MLAs are senior members of the house and the matter could be resolved through healthy debates but not in the way they showed by staging walkout and deciding to boycott the rest of the session,” he said.
The members of the opposition bench behaved in a way as if it wants to take on the role of Information Commission under the RTI Act and the role of Accoun-tant General.
“The BJP members have staged the drama with a political motive which is contrary to the role of the opposition,” he said. The chief minister also alleged that the opposition’s inten-tion was not to ask question but to divert people’s attention. (PTI)
