TURA: West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police (SP), Mukesh Kr Singh has drawn criticism from the FKJGP for the alleged vandalism committed by his subordinates at the office of the Association for Democracy and Empowerment (ADE).
The Federation also demanded that a local SP, a Khasi, Jaintia or a Garo be appointed in his place.
“The FKJGP strongly suspects that the act wasn’t random but rather a well planned scheme to terrorise the NGOs, who have been demanding justice for late Sengbath Ch Marak who was killed in a fake encounter on March 4. The act was deliberate as most of the NGOs were in Shillong attending the ILP meeting with the Chief Minister,” the Federation said.
“It is high time that the Home Minister stepped in to immediately assign a local SP for West Garo Hills. If a local SP is not immediately appointed, the FKJGP, Garo Hills Zone shall resort to agitations until this aspiration of the people of Garo Hills is met,” Marak warned.
