SHILLONG: In line with the modernization process of the Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL), the new dry process plant of the company will be commissioned post the completion of the trial run by the end of this month.
Informing this here on Monday, MCCL managing director, Sanjay Goyal said that the entire operation of the new plant will be computerized.
The modernization of the MCCL is the need of the hour considering the fact that the condition of the plant and machinery has deteriorated due to wear and tear leading to a decline in production. The production capacity of the plant, which was around 12000 metric tonnes per year has now gone down to 5000 to 6000 metric tonnes.
Goyal informed that the production capacity of the plant would increase to 18000 metric tonnes a year once the new plant is commissioned. The Rs 100 cr modernized plant will also consume less electricity.
Set up in the early 1960s, the MCCL is the oldest Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in the State and the only state-owned cement plant.
